  1. The Cuban Missile War Timeline

I should really work on a new version of this.
  2. How plausible is a Soviet invasion of Japan (besides Hokkaido) during WW2?

I've posted a complete timeline related to a Soviet invasion of Hokkaido. Search the boards for it.
  3. Short Story: "Impossible Dreams" by Tim Pratt

This lovely little story won the Hugo Award in 2007. It's about a man who wanders into a video store from an alternate universe for a short time. Enjoy! http://web.archive.org/web/20070422075939/http://www.asimovs.com/_issue_0704/Impossibledreams.shtml
  4. Peter Tsouras trilogy

Going on his past publishing schedule, 18-24 months after "Rainbow of Blood." So figure sometime in 2012.
  5. The Cuban Missile War Timeline

Thanks, Michael Van. I'll fix that for v1.9. Incidentally, today is the 48th anniversary of the war.
  6. The Cuban Missile War Timeline

Consumerist, IMHO, it really depends on the scenario you come up with. After the late 1970s, there's enough delivery vehicles around to pretty much wreck the world if you imagine anything but the most limited wars imaginable. One scenario that I haven't seen done is a NATO-Warsaw Pact...
  7. The Cuban Missile War Timeline

Thank you for the compliment, Canton.
  8. The Cuban Missile War Timeline

Thank you. I enjoy your Protect and Survive as well. It's quite interesting.
  9. The Cuban Missile War Timeline

Cuban Missile War v1.8 Here's version 1.8, incorporating the latest updates and changes based on new information and further research. A partial list of changes follows: New ICBM targets to reflect air defense information. Removed IRBMs targeted on Alaska, as none were within range at the...
  10. Time Travel and It's Contribution to World War 2

To answer the original poster's question, I'd suggest Dean Koontz' "Lightning."
  11. Making History, by Stephen Fry

I'd recommend it for the simple fact that it avoids most alternate history cliches. It's an alternate history that focuses on the characters, and I don't regret having read it. It's not Just Another WWII Alternate.
  12. The Cuban Missile War Timeline

That's startlingly good, Khazar. I could see it benefiting from some of the more recent studies on secondary burning effects pointed out earlier in this thread, but that would deal with climate effects only. If you haven't read what's behind that link, I'd definitely recommend it.
  13. The Manhattan Project: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the ICBM

He did have to deal with political repercussions of the attack, however. The Soviet Union was quick to capitalize on the “frightful escalation” of the war on the Korean Peninsula, and several countries that had considered contributing soldiers to the UN effort rescinded their offers of...
  14. Posting "France Fights On" in extenso: would it be allowed?

I'd say go ahead; if someone complains, the thread can be deleted. I did the same with posting a 1985 ISOT of Yugoslavia that I ran across on Usenet.
  15. The Manhattan Project: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the ICBM

Exactly. Theory being that Stalin invented the whole thing as an excuse to begin his purge.
  16. The Manhattan Project: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the ICBM

Yep. Even though I've got a set ending for the TL, I do want to give you glimpses of what comes after.
  17. The Manhattan Project: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the ICBM

I'm glad. That's what I look for in an AH, and I'm happy that I was able to provide it for you.
  18. The Manhattan Project: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the ICBM

That there were still Americans and Koreans fighting on the peninsula seems to have eluded inclusion in the statement. Those fighting in the Taegu Pocket were the recipients of whatever silver lining came out of the black cloud surrounding the Pusan Evacuation. The In Min Gun drive to capture...
  19. A 'Dolittle Raid' on North America, March 1942

To me the political repercussions of such an attack are interesting as well. A notable attack on an American city might be a boost to anti-Roosevelt Democrats and Republicans such that it could fracture the informal truce on political manipulation of the war effort. That's not to mention the...
  20. Conquistador Expanded

My favorite alternate histories have involved literal worldbuilding, as took place in Conquistador, and I hope you'll keep up your work. I'll be reading, even if I don't post.
