President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Vice President Lyndon Johnson, and Speaker of the House John William McCormack are assassinated some time before June 11, 1963 at the same time. Richard Brevard Russell Jr., a Conservative Democrat and the President pro tempore, becomes President. The colors then will correspond with Blue = Republican and Red = Democratic because even though the Republicans will be the center-right party fiscally, they will be to the left on social issues. This is a really bad year for the Republicans.
